Full-time / Direct Hire

Our direct client is looking to hire a “Data Governance Lead ” employee for a “direct hire position” in Information Technology to provide a Lead role for strategic, business-transforming projects in IT service and support.

Client prefers LOCAL or someone within a 2-hour drive for Hybrid.   
Will consider 100% REMOTE!!!!!

Must have build exp of data solutions, will take less exp.
Must be able to have conversations with executives
Location of client: Kansas City, KS
Must be able to work Central Time Zone.

This role assists with implementation of data governance practice at client’s site and serves the customers by building reliable data across the organization through data analytics.
The Data Governance Lead partner with the Data Management team and various Client’s business teams to deliver on strategic data governance initiatives as well as system enhancements and application support.

You will use your business process understanding, critical thinking, and planning & organizing skills to build data governance program that delivers solutions that meet critical business data analytics objectives across the enterprise.  You will be asked to align people, process, and technology in order to build high quality data solutions


REQUIREMENTS (Client will consider less exp)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • (May consider less exp) 5 years of experience in implementing Data Governance program from the base for a large organization preferably for a retail/grocery industry (Only a plus)
  • Drive data governance strategy and policies within assigned areas of the enterprise
  • Take ownership of the roadmap, implementation, and maintenance of the firm data governance capabilities.
  • Evolve data governance program processes and frameworks, including but not limited to: policy development, standards for cataloging data assets & metadata curation, data governance roles & responsibilities (definition, assignment, and recruitment), governance community development, MDM strategy & associated stewardship, dataset certification.
  • Develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with data stewards and ambassadors in assigned business units, Chairing and facilitating working sessions with business leaders, stakeholders, and data consumers
  • Take ownership of data quality framework to enable data quality reporting, issue identification, remediation, and tracking, ensuring trust and confidence in data across domains.
  • Provide analytics on governance health and progress to firm’s Data Leadership by
  • Tracking, managing, and reporting on data governance initiatives and progress towards goals and objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
  • Collaborate with project or program teams to guide them through adoption of data governance processes and set expectations to comply with governance requirements and processes.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise

  • Data Governance certifications
  • Experience in Grocery/Retail industry
  • Experience in building, implementing and running Data Governance from scratch for a larger organization

Refine & Deliver Strategy (10%)
  • Develop a strong understanding of current technologies and solutions, and relevant trends within the data management and data governance domains
  • Responsible for business partner relationship, including communication and alignment on data governance program through direct/indirect system operations and project delivery
  • Shape the vision and roadmap of Data Governance Program associated to the business functional areas
  • Provide initial estimate project costs and timelines, identify resources to execute Data Governance initiatives. Assist with preparing estimates to support the 5-year capital plan
  • Influence, promote, drive data quality improvements, data enhancements, cost reductions, and productivity increases for the team and business systems
  • Demonstrate strong business partnerships, model effective teamwork and be an advocate for the business in all aspects of project and team management

Deliver Reliable Solutions & Technology (65%)
  • Define functional and technical standards along with best practices in the DATA Governance program initiatives
  • Contribute and lead Data governance initiative roadmap and implementation
  • Identify and implement short term and long-term Data Governance (MDM, Data Quality, policies, procedure) opportunities within projects, enhancements and support
  • Deliver solutions with the highest quality and on time, on budget
  • Drive change through influence, personal advocacy, vision, and consensus building
  • Evaluate technology acquisitions designed to optimize feature/function for long term supportability, vendor viability and total cost of ownership
  • Engage in day-to-day relationship management with vendors, hold them accountable for service quality/delivery through Data Governance modernization initiatives
  • Communicate roadmap and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision, and goals. Clarify actions needed to implement roadmap projects

Operational Support & Service Management (25%)
  • Responsible for the stability, availability, and operational effectiveness of data governance solutions
  • Responsible for change implementation practices that reduce business risk and overall downtime (pre-deployment testing, implementation plan, post implementation verification, backout plan)
  • Responsible for 24x7 production support for data analytics production support systems that directly/indirectly relates to data quality/data governance policies per the directions
  • Implement and manage operational and solution health and SLA metrics, set performance objectives and take corrective action where needed
  • Seek customer feedback regularly to ensure services and support are efficient and effective; surface and identify repeat problems or service challenges, crafting and driving improvement plans to close gaps, ensures ticket status communication
  • Ensures the team follows implementation standards/processes/procedures, collaborates and shares best practices
