Duration: Permanent / Direct Hire
Location: Las Vegas or REMOTE in one of the following states (Nevada, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania) due to gaming licenses candidate will need to get upon being hired.  Some minimal travel may be required to Las Vegas or other client properties

Summary Description (Purpose and function of job):
The Sr Technical Manager will lead and support a team of junior to senior data and software engineers, data and software infrastructure designers and will be skilled with the understanding of data and software delivery disciplines.  This position requires leadership to resolve semi-routine issues involving design, development, API, cloud, and database redesign, and his or her team is typically assigned to design, retrofit, or debug most aspects of products or major subcomponents. This person will be responsible at times for hands on efforts contributing in the development to multiple systems that are under the core responsibility of the product development team.

Essential job functions/duties:
  • Lead the establishment and documentation of technology direction and standards for data platforms, involving all aspects of information access and retrieval, integration, middleware translators, utilities, tools, and languages for use by information technology groups. Communicate the benefits and advocate the use of enterprise-wide data and software architecture and standard platforms, products and tools to senior management, business area staff and technical staff.
  • Analyze the current state innovation, product development and manufacturing operating model, including organizational constructs, business processes, systems, information, APIs, and data
  • Analyze, design, and implement new/improved operational capabilities in our master data architecture and APIs
  • Defines and achieves the strategy roadmap for the enterprise, including data modeling, implementation and data management for our enterprise data warehouse and advanced data analytics systems.
  • Evangelize Data Governance and value of accurate master data and metadata.
  • Develops and implements strategies for data warehouse following industry best practice (Kimball), creating conceptual, logical, and physical models.
  • Expert in data warehousing principles utilizing fact and dimension tables, star and snowflake schema data modeling and data normalization preferred.
  • Provide support to enterprise data infrastructure management and analysts throughout the project cycle to ensure development of efficient data systems utilizing established standards, procedures, and methodologies (i.e. design reviews, architect reviews).
  • Drive the execution of data architecture using industry best practices. Specifically - Provide technical and architectural guidance to teams across all platforms and infrastructures, including promoting adherence to design standards and methodologies.
  • Applies extensive knowledge of business drivers, technology strategy, architecture goals and infrastructure to develop and deliver clear, comprehensive solutions, technical and product architectures. Reviews and ensures major data designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible and cost effective.
  • Investigates and forecasts market trends to define the technical information strategy direction and recommends innovations that anticipate the future direction of the business, its drivers and technology strategy.
  • Recommend emerging technological solutions to increase market share and reduce operational costs.
  • Conduct systems architecture studies of new and existing data infrastructure; develop tactical plans to address short-term deficiencies in current data architecture.
  • Review project plans and technical documents to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with enterprise data architecture.
  • Define implementation plan for new technologies.
  • Mentor team members on new technology and database best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job specifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent in academic institution; significant applied experience or a combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • 4+ years of professional data architecture and data/software development experience. 
  • At least 8 years of hands-on database development using any SQL/query language/toolset in engineering solutions.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on software development using any Microsoft language/toolset in engineering solutions.
  • Knowledge of web services, APIs, branching strategies, and message monitoring with on-prem and cloud systems and architectures
  • Preferred experience with fundamentals of DevOps Engineering
  • In-depth hands-on understanding of data design methodologies, data architecture principles, Data modeling and interrelation of various enterprise data or Business Intelligence-related solutions.
  • 3+ years using SQL tools:  Server Management Studio and Business Intelligence Development Studio, or equivalent toolsets.
  • 3+ years’ experience using SSIS, or equivalent extraction/transformation tools
  • 4+ years’ experience developing and optimizing SQL procedures and DB structures.
  • Must understand principles of Extract Load and Transform (ETL) processes.
  • Must have Working knowledge of database physical and logical design.
  • Development skills with SQL Server databases/ TSQL in a high transaction volume environment.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server internals.
  • ITIL V3 Awareness Training preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor team of 3-4 engineers in design, development, and deployment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and a proven background in dealing with all levels of management, customers, and vendors
  • Must have excellent organizational and time and project management skills and must be adept at coordinating between all lines of business
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment with rapidly changing priorities and responsibilities.
  • Must have excellent people skills and the ability to explain technology related issues to non-technical audience
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain any necessary licenses and/or certifications.
