Position: Lead RAN Architect
Location: Louisville, CO, 80027 (Remote till Covid)

Seeking an experienced lead convergence architect to join its team focused on building an agile network framework which enables a seamless user experience across multiple access and core platforms, including 3GPP, DOCSIS, Wi-Fi, and optical technologies. .  The person will provide technical leadership in the areas of 5G and 6G networks on a cloud-native Open RAN platform.  The person will be responsible for leading wireless R&D activities with an emphasis on technology development and having hands on experience in executing innovation proof-of concepts and demonstrations is a plus.  The candidate must be an out-of-box thinker with a proven record of delivering solutions which are both innovative and elegant.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership in creating converged architectures that leverage mobile technologies such as 5G and 6G
  • Lead R&D project and specifications development activities focused on access (3GPP, Wi-Fi and wireline) convergence
  • Lead member outreach activities to gather requirements and develop relevant use cases
  • Translate broad business and strategic requirements into a set of actionable technical requirements that will drive network architecture decisions and technical specifications work
  • Build vendor relationships to drive product/feature roadmap and timelines
  • Monitor relevant standard and industry forum (e.g. 3GPP, O-RAN Alliance, ONF, TIP and etc.) activities to identify emerging trends and gaps
Required Skills
  • Solid technical knowledge in end-to-end 5G networks
  • Solid knowledge in key 5G use cases and associated technical enablers & deployment considerations
  • Solid knowledge in O-RAN Alliance specifications, including radio intelligent controller (RIC) and Open Fronthaul
  • Knowledge in various 3GPP and non-3GPP interworking schemes including LWA and LWIP
  • Skilled at producing documentations and presentation materials for a wide range of audiences, from novices to experts
  • Ability to perform and deliver, individually and collaboratively, with minimum supervision
  • Must be a self-starter who anticipates and is proactive
  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi, optical, DOCSIS and/or MSO cable network architecture is a plus
Required Experience
  • B.S or M.S. degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science, or data science or similar field
  • 7+ years of experience in RAN architecture and solution design for a network vendor or operator
  • Experience in virtualized and/or containerized RAN network functions
  • Experience in lab and/or field integration and testing, including familiarity with diagnostic test equipment
  • Experience in client-facing and/or vendor management roles
