Our Direct Client is looking to hire a Network Engineer - Fiber/Core Product.

Position : Network Engineer - Fiber/Core Product.
Location : Boulder CO 80301
Duration : 6+ Months


This position is responsible for understanding and verifying operation of Edge Severs used for network switching topology and wireless core and gateway technologies by creating test plans, test documents, implementing validating testing and results for Edge Networking and wireless products under development. Plays a key role in building and emerging network design and emerging products that deliver leading edge, state of the art solutions on time and at cost. Foster strong relationships with all internal business units. Assists in creating engineering and network topology standards and product specifications for commercial roll out. Creates targeted plans from high level designs to complex network topology designs. Assists in future network design based on the overall budgets and helps schedule the completion based on requirements etc. Works closely with the Emerging Products teams and Core Engineering teams to provide documentation and processes for product architecture handoff to internal teams.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development of the Edge Network and core network designs; provide test plans and validation documentation on the network. Develop reports, and provide weekly updates.
Engineer and design solutions, which can include public and private telecommunications networks.
Specify, evaluate, and recommend the procurement of telecommunications hardware/software products and services.  Evaluations include technical and detailed economic analysis.
Project manage network first office application projects consisting of telecommunications equipment, servers, systems, and services; develop operating procedures; train operating personnel; and provide on-going technical support.
Manage network capacity and utilization based on engineering and technical guidelines established by engineering requirements of the network.
Interface between the Emerging Products engineering team and core engineering teams to manage and verify the architecture and performance.
Record and track all aspects of the test plans, performance and kpis and load testing.
Develop and recommend strategies to address specific product and architecture issues.
Provide tier III technical support to emerging product engineers and first office applications customers and other work groups.  As the system expert, has a broad knowledge of all aspects of the assigned systems, including its design basis, vendor equipment, operating characteristics, and required maintenance.
Assist in standardization for configuring customer and network equipment. Provision new circuits, routers, and other network equipment as required providing customer service.

Qualifications

MA or MS degree highly desirable, or equivalent IT and telecommunications experience.
1-3 years applicable experience.
Knowledge of telecommunications network circuit design and/or fiber optic networks or other comparable networks.
Knowledge of edge compute, server hardware and software, Linux operating systems, Virtual Machines, Containers, and OSS.
Significant knowledge and experience of various telecom products (Juniper, Ciena, Accedian, Cisco, Fujitsu, ALU, Nokia, AirSpan, JMA, Dell) as well as design alternatives.
Working knowledge of IT networks, firewalls, security software, servers, Ubuntu virtualBox, Kubernetes, Anthos, AWS, Azure, cloud computing, and network monitoring
Thorough understanding of fiber networks, WAN, cloud compute and Ethernet network and associated electronics.
Demonstrated knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Salesforce, Microsoft and Word office products.
Ability to effectively communicate and provide technical direction to technical and non-technical personnel.
PC skills required to perform daily work activities.
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and ability to be an integral member of a team.
