Jr. Test Engineer

Our Direct Client is looking to hire a Test Engineer.

Position : Test Engineer
Location : Louisville, CO 80027
Duration : 6+ Months

Job purpose

The tester will help with lab testing, environment setup, and other activities related to the integration of devices on cable broadband networks. This will include activities such as manual physical setup of equipment and infrastructure, test execution, analysis, documentation, and automation.
Learning Objectives
  • Learn about cable industry technology, DOCSIS(R), RF, fiber, and cable network architecture 
  • Become familiar with a Hybrid Fiber-Coax network
  • Develop hands-on skills in a lab environment, specific to measurement and testing for compliance
  • Develop testing acumen
  • Learn how research and development works in the dynamic cable industry
Duties and responsibilities
  • Execute and document test results for multiple types of testing to verify interoperability and protocol compliance to specifications
  • Run and perform various testing scenarios in support of R&D projects
  • Document test results into reports 
  • Analyze and interpret testing results and provide reporting, as needed
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Solid understanding of networking technologies and element to include familiarity with IP networking and experience with TCP, UDP and similar networking protocols
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision
  • Energetic and eager to tackle new tasks and ideas
  • Comfortable working in diverse environments including lab space and shared office
Desired Skills
  • Strong team-based work ethic (required)
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (desired)
  • Experience or knowledge of data communication protocols/networking (required)
  • Experience in a lab setting with hands-on knowledge of networking equipment (desired)
  • Experience working with network capture tools such as wireless sniffers and Wireshark (desired)
Working conditions
operates in an electronic equipment testing lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office and electronic testing equipment.  Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the organization for personal protection.
