SQL Administrator

Location: Denver, CO
 
Under minimal supervision uses detailed knowledge of managed care health insurance data to gather requirements, analyzes business needs, and leverage data warehouse and business intelligence solutions to create and maintain structured extracts and reports, as well as providing ad-hoc analyses. Acts as an expert in health care payer information, processes, and source data. Works closely with the business community in understanding information needs and translating these requirements into refined easy to use information tools. Prioritizes work requests, coordinates project deliverable with vendor partners, and oversees the completion process as appropriate. Provides implementation and maintenance support for various information management initiatives and the production business intelligence solution for extracts and reports. SQL query development and data analysis skills tied to health plan data are critical, with knowledge of HEDIS data requirements preferred. Responsibilities include the design and implementation of extracts, files, and reports, as required to meet the goals of Managed Care business functions. Actively participates with the management team at Denver Health as well as a variety of vendors who require the exchange and use of Managed Care data.

**Health Payer data knowledge tied to query and reporting experience are critical to this role.**
 
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field, or equivalent training in the area of database environments

Experience: Typically, 3 years of technical experience working with relational databases developing in SQL and writing reports preferably in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and business/clinical analysis experience for Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence  solutions preferably in a Microsoft SQL Server environment.

Knowledge,  Skills  &  Abilities: Knowledge of core Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing technologies including Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), OLAP, Performance Point, SharePoint, Excel Services.
Complex report writing skills within Crystal Reports or preferably SSRS, including drill-thru capabilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to interpret results of query analysis. Business analysis skills to identify business intelligence solution requirements by interviewing business users, analysing processes/operations, establishing solution objectives, prototyping solution, and preparing specifications.
Ability to write queries using T-SQL as well as generate results using vendor supplied tools. Ability to create stored procedures, triggers, running queries, developing complex tables and joins, and data analysis. Ability to communicate effectively with technical team members.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals. Clinical health care, pharmacy or health insurance experience preferred.
