Data Solutions Architect / DBA

Location: Los Angeles, CA
Atrilogy’s client is seeking a Data Solutions Architect / DBA to join their team in Los Angeles, CA. This is a PERM role.
 
As a member of the Digital Technologies department, the Database Architect/DBA ("AppDBA") is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining application focused database solutions.

Responsibilities
Provide data architecture and implementation guidance and support to Digital Technologies initiatives Work with developers to assist in overall database design, tuning queries, assigning proper indexes, creating triggers and stored procedures. Understand the concepts and activities required for data profiling and data modeling -- how and when these skills are used in the SDLC. In conjunction with enterprise database group, Install and upgrade Digital Technologies SQL and other database servers, monitoring database server health, tuning for optimal performance, ensuring proper use of storage and space requirements, ensuring backup and recovery, and help manage database security. Work with Digital Technologies systems and applications teams to provision and support production and non-production database platforms for development teams both on premise and in the cloud. Provide a high degree of coordination between colleagues, technical staff, and application developers to ensure effective data management. Operate with substantial latitude for independent action and requires an individual who is capable of decision-making, and establishing and enforcing Database Best Practices standards.
 
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other technology engineering discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years of DBA experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working as a data architect or applications dba as part of Agile development teams
 
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Expert level data architecture skills focused on application development vs. database operations
  • Expert SQL development skills Python and other scripting skills Strong experience in SQL Server High Availability (HA) options such as Failover Cluster, Database Mirroring, Log Shipping, Replication Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Good understanding of MS Windows and Linux operating systems and general understanding of network architecture.
  • Extensive experience in the development and support of web and mobile applications as part of core engineering team 3+ year's hands-on experience in public cloud database technology implementation
  • 3+ years' hands-on experience with Oracle databases
  • 8+ years' hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server and related technologies (combined on-premise and Azure SQL)
  • 5+ year's hands-on experience with enterprise and/or cloud ETL tools 3+ years' hands-on experience with NoSQL databases
  • 2+ years' hands-on experience with Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka etc.)
  • Experience with machine learning technologies a plus Strong financial services experience preferred
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of colleague trust and confidence in the group's knowledge of and concern for colleague's business needs
