PeopleSoft Administrator

Location: Orange, CA
Our direct client is seeking a Peoplesoft Administrator with strong administration experience to join their team.  This position provides critical PeopleSoft applications and database administration services and support of enterprise resources planning systems our client.  A successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with the installation and maintenance of stable production, test, and development application servers. You will be providing tuning system performance, configuration of systems, monitoring systems, proper backup of systems, application patching, security updates, maintaining proper inventory controls and other related tasks for Oracle PeopleSoft HCM, FS, and Portal environments.  
 
Experience escalating application problems to vendor (My Oracle Support).
Develops and maintains database and environment refresh scripts and procedures.
Leads establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures.
Works closely with the database team to analyze, recommend, and troubleshoot application and performance issues. 
Properly documents work requests in the IS&T work order software system and escalate work requests as appropriate.
Diagnose, research, recommend and resolves issues raised by end users.
Creates and maintains technical documentation and solutions for IS&T Knowledge Base and helps guide the client technical decisions around Oracle PeopleSoft and third-party integration.
Works independently, as project leader, or as part of a larger team. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Duties and Responsibilities Assigned to the Position:
 
Ensures PeopleSoft Application Administration
  • Provide on-going PeopleSoft applications administration and databases services support.
  • Build, configure, secure and enhance PeopleSoft PIA and Middleware server environments.
  • Configure, upgrade, and support relational database management systems (Oracle RDBMS).
  • Design, develop, and maintain highly-available PeopleSoft application environments (load balancing and clustering methods).

Application Maintenance
  • Ensures compliance to standards, processes and procedures and ensure that all servers meet standard configuration and performance requirements.
  • Assist in performance testing, tuning, and improving operational processes.
  • Monitors application and server configurations to ensure ERP systems uptime and data integrity.

Special Projects
  • Occasional availability for off-hour support issues, weekend projects, and maintenance activities as needed.
  • Provides mentorship to other Jr. PeopleSoft Administrators in the team.
 
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • Six or more years building, configuring, upgrading, administrating PeopleSoft Servers in a Linux environment.
  • Strong experienced with PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.53+, Application Designer, Data Mover, and Upgrade with Change Assistant and patch updates with PUM.
  • Strong technical skills to troubleshoot Weblogic (PIA), Tuxedo middleware, SSL certificate management.
  • Skilled in installation/setup and management of highly available application clustered environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of at least one Linux-based operating platform.
  • Ability to collaborate with vendors and system service providers, provide administration for system solutions, and act as a liaison.
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and evaluate data, assess alternatives and formulate logical and sound recommendations.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy and to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to quickly adapt to new technologies.
  • Ability to prioritize duties when faced with interruptions, distractions and fluctuating workload and complete them in a timely manner.
  • Proficient knowledge of VMware ESX virtual technologies desired.
  • Knowledge of the campus and the university policies and procedures desired.
  • Solid experience in cloning application and databases desired.
  • Strong Linux shell scripting and SQL scripting automation desired.
  • Strong Oracle DBA skills supporting PeopleSoft with Oracle 12c desired.
