Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Greenwood Village, CO
The Software QA Engineer will validate production release candidate versions of our software and hardware. You will use your strong technical background to work with project management, product management and software engineering to define test strategies, organize testing processes, optimize system level testing and ensure the timely and accurate execution of software tests.
 
Duties:
  • Analyze product specs, decompose complicated software systems, and design strategies to test these systems.
  • Work as an Agile team member participating in backlog grooming, sprint planning and task estimation.
  • Expand and maintain test automation for the applications you support.
  • Taking initiative to explore the application(s) and gain a functional understanding of said application(s).
  • Work closely with software developers to gather requirements, write and executing tests (manual and/or automated), monitor testing progress, report status, log defects, track defect fixes and new features, retest and sign off on code quality
  • Participate in pre-release and test-case review meetings to verify the testability of requirements and user stories.
  • Identify, document, and communicate all issues discovered during test case creation and test execution.
  • Drive adoption of new test strategies and tools you are passionate about.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years’ experience testing and validating commercial grade software as a member of a software development team
    • Web applications
    • Desktop applications
  • Strong technical knowledge of API and SDK usage
  • Proficiency with SQL (MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Proficiency with Quality Assurance methodologies
  • Proficiency conducting load and performance testing
  • Proficiency with Rally, JIRA, Confluence, or similar system
  • Familiarity with Windows Server 2008 and 2012
  • Familiarity with computer networking/hardware concepts and technology
  • Familiarity with Agile SDLC and project management (SCRUM, KANBAN)
 
Nice to Haves
  • Education – Associates or Bachelor’s degree in relevant or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with HP LoadRunner, Stormrunner or similar
  • Experience testing and validating mobile applications
  • Experience with software security and penetration testing methodologies
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Experience with Python and/or Java
  • Experience with infrastructure automation software/tools (Puppet, Chef, SaltStack or similar)
  • Proficiency with Linux operating systems
    • Ubuntu 14 or better
    • CentOS
